Peak 10 to acquire ViaWest for $1.675 Billion
Peak 10 announced the acquisition of Colorado-based ViaWest for an all-cash deal of $1.675 Billion. Canadian based Shaw Communications (NYSE: SJR) acquired ViaWest in 2014 for $1.2 Billion in an effort to expand its data center business. As with a number of telecoms that entered the data center arena and since sold their data center operations, Shaw is selling ViaWest in an effort to streamline its operations.
GI Partners acquired Peak 10 in 2014 will remain the majority shareholder of the combined company. The expanded company brings together two high-quality regional data center operators in 20 markets.
